Express (Japan) 1978

media : EX-/EX (some slight crackle noise due to thin scratches)

This is a piano duo album recorded in 1971 by Masahiko Satoh, a leading Japanese jazz pianist who has been active since his solo debut in 1969, and Wolfgang Dauner, a brilliant German pianist who has left countless masterpieces under his own name and with the group Et Cetera. This is a reissue released in 1978 as part of the "Far East Jazz" series, featuring a different jacket design. Mainly acoustic piano is used, with Masahiko Satoh also employing an electric harpsichord. Both pianists are superb, creating a beautiful and powerful world through what appears to be almost entirely improvisation. This is an excellent album throughout, showing elements of both Masahiko Satoh's "Pavane for a Dead Princess" and Wolfgang Dauner's "Output."
