This is the only album released in 1984 by a quartet led by female drummer/percussionist Marilyn Mazur—known for her debut on Jørgen Emborg’s Sargasso, her work with Pierre Dørge & New Jungle Orchestra, and later acclaimed releases on ECM in the 2000s—and saxophonist Uffe Markussen, who was also active as a member of the Attila Engin Group. Featuring Peter Danstrup on bass and Bjarne Roupé on guitar, this hidden gem showcases a wide range—from abstract jazz rock with a deep room echo and groove, to floating contemporary jazz—blending exotic Nordic atmospheres and progressive developments unique to Scandinavian musicians. A thoroughly enjoyable listen from start to finish.
