This is an album by the Members of the Afganistan Orchestra, which performs traditional music of Afghanistan in the Middle East, released in 1973 from the Explorer Series of Nonesuch, a prestigious label that has produced many masterpieces of folk music and local recordings. Afghanistan is a unique region where the cultures of various ethnic groups, such as the Pashtuns of Aryan descent from India, the Tajiks of Aryan descent, the Uzbeks of Turkic descent, the Kyrgyz of Turkic descent, and the Hazara of Mongol descent, are mixed. The music of Afghanistan is also unique, with a mixture of Islamic music, ethnic music, and indigenous popular songs, but the performances in this work do not reflect regional characteristics, and most of the songs are sublimated as popular songs with new arrangements. It is interesting to note that most of the songs are arranged in a new way and sublimated as popular songs.
