Featured in both editions of the guidebook Obscure Sound, this is the second album by American virtuoso guitarist Michael Hedges, released in 1984, and arguably his finest work.
An astonishing world of pure acoustic sound unfolds here: delicate yet dynamic sonic textures drawn from the guitar, with percussive attacks cascading down like a sudden squall. Within a transparent, deeply layered acoustic space, Hedges’ guitar resonates at times with a mystical aura, at others with an almost majestic grandeur, completely pulling the listener in. There is a sensibility here that also brings Steve Tibbetts to mind. The depth and three-dimensional quality of the recording are outstanding as well.
