An album released in 1977 by Antonio Carlos Jobim, one of the most celebrated composers of bossa nova, a style born from the young middle-class culture of 1960s Brazil. Here Jobim features the Brazilian singer Miúcha, who had only recently made her debut at the time. The album presents a superb selection of songs by some of Brazil’s most important composers, including Jobim himself, Vinicius de Moraes, Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, Toquinho, Ary Barroso, and others. The musicians are equally impressive, with contributions from Dory Caymmi, Danilo Caymmi, Luiz Alves, Roberto Silva, and more. A beautiful collection of songs and performances that offers a glimpse into one of the most refined sides of Brazilian music. This is the Japanese pressing released in 1979.
