MonTRESvideo was a group formed by three artists: Fernando Cabrera, who went on to release numerous solo masterpieces from the mid-1980s onward including Autoblues; Daniel Magnone, the brother of Estela Magnone—known for her brilliant duo work with Jaime Roos; and Pacho Martinez, who also participated in the aforementioned Cabrera albums. This group left behind only one album, released in 1981. A hidden gem of Uruguayan folk music, the album features songs that are filled with uniquely creative melodies and vocal arrangements, all while subtly incorporating elements of traditional Uruguayan music. It also includes a cover of “Dedos,” the opening track from Totem’s legendary 1971 debut album, a group led by Rubén Rada. Highly recommended.
