An album released in 1969 by American composer Morton Subotnick, who created numerous innovative electronic music works such as "Silver Apples of the Moon" using electronic instruments and interactive computer music systems. This is a total concept album produced using the Buchla synthesizer, which he was involved in developing, and is a key work at the core of his early LP discography. Subotnick later stated that it was commissioned by Columbia as "the first surround sound record," so it can be described as an audio work that uses spatial arrangement itself as a compositional element, rather than just an experiment in electronic sound. While it might seem like a mere array of strange electronic sounds, there is a meticulously calculated structure and acoustic effect, and it boasts an exquisite groove and trippy feel that is rarely found in other avant-garde electronic music. This is a domestic release with quadraphonic specifications. It is likely that this was released in 1972, the same year as the American quadraphonic pressing.
