We've received a very interesting record. This 1978 box set 2-LP album contains a guide to Ajikan Meisoh, an important meditation method of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism brought to Japan by Kobo Daishi Kukai. Unlike Zen meditation where one is hit with a stick called keisaku, Ajikan is performed by gazing at the Sanskrit character "A". This album features explanations by Taikoh Yamazaki, an esoteric Buddhist scholar and Shingon sect monk who has written many books on esoteric Buddhist meditation methods, readings of the modern Japanese translation of the Rishukyo by Taikai Takahashi, a vocalist and music educator, and field recordings of training at esoteric Buddhist sacred sites. The included 7-inch record contains the sound of the Goko Rei, a national treasure stored at Toji Temple and believed to have been used by Kukai, and features beautiful etching on the reverse side. All original accessories are included, plus a flyer from the time of release.
