This is the first in a series of Korean traditional music releases on Shinsegae Records in Korea. It is probably from the early-mid 70's. It features a song and solo performance by Oh Kap Soon, a master of the kyaegum, a traditional Korean stringed instrument. The "Korean Folk Song Vol. 2," which includes a multi-instrumental performance by Oh Kap Soon and his apprentice, was also excellent, but this work, too, expresses the passion and longing of the Korean people beautifully with its unique verse singing and the emotional melody of the gayageum. Along with "Masterpeace IV" by Byongki Hwang, who is a master of gayageum and was introduced in the guidebook "OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION," this album is a must-see for Korean folk singers.
