A new release has arrived from Lobby Art Editions, a Brooklyn-based label founded by Sam Wenc, who also serves as the label director of Mississippi Records. This double album marks the final work of Old Saw, a project by Vermont-based multi-instrumentalist Henry Birdsey, known for his work under names such as Tongue Depressor and Trespass Field. The recordings were made in New England, Birdsey’s home region, between 2022 and 2024. Described as a textured and immersive country lament project, the album features a unique blend of instruments—including nylon guitar, banjo, pedal steel, fiddle, organ, harmonium, and metal objects—weaving experimental sensibilities into a framework of country and folk textures. Recorded on 1/4” open-reel tape, the sound quality is outstanding. Highly recommended listening.
