A British 8-piece Afro-rock band formed around Hugh Ashton, Keni St. George, Val McDonald, and Vernon Cummings, Ozo released their debut album Listen to the Buddha in 1976. One of the tracks from that album, the classic "Anambra," became widely known after being played by David Mancuso. This 12-inch single, released in 1977, features both an edited version and the original version of the song. Originally, the track appeared as the B-side of a 7-inch single released in 1971 by the Afro-funk band Danta, which included Cummings as a member. In this version, the song is rearranged with Beth Kustra’s spell-like vocals and choruses, and a deep, heavy low-end beat that hits you in the gut.
