Richard Rousselet
No, Maybe…!
Jazz Cats/ (Belgium) 1985
6985 01 (LP)
sleeve : EX+(very slightly wear on corner.)
media : EX/EX(some slightly noise.)

Released in 1985, this album is by trumpeter Richard Rousselet, an original member of the legendary Belgian jazz-funk band Placebo, who left behind three masterpieces in the 1970s, and also appeared on Christine Schaller’s superb 1980 album Real Life. Recorded in 1984 at a studio in Buizingen, Belgium, it features a quintet with Michel Herr (p), who made his mark with the outstanding Ouveeeerture Eclair in 1978, alongside John Ruocco (ts, ss), Jean-Louis Rassinfosse (b), and Felix Simtaine (ds). A refined contemporary jazz session, it presents Herr’s original compositions such as A1 and B3, which open with a graceful piano before trumpet and saxophone rise and drift through the air with striking elegance, alongside interpretations of pieces by Thelonious Monk and Carl Perkins. The Richie Beirach cover is also exceptional. Not an easy one to come across.
