This 1987 album by pianist Roland Baró, a key figure in Cuban jazz since the 1950s, features the backing band Orquesta Danzonera, which includes some of Cuba’s most renowned musicians such as Carlos Fernandez Averhoff, Manuel Mirabal Vazquez, Demetrio Muñiz Lavallee, and Oscar Valdés. Alongside Baró’s original compositions, the album offers warm, tropical Afro-Cuban charm through arrangements of classics by Frank Dominguez, Jose Antonio Mendez, and Luis Marquetti. Occasional touches of synthesizer add a subtle modern flavor. A thoroughly recommended work from start to finish.
