A new release from LA's emerging label, In Sheep's Clothing Hi-Fi Selects, has arrived. This is an analog release of an album by LA musician Scott Gilmore, who has been making remarkable strides recently with releases on Marc Barrott's International Feel and Crammed Discs, helmed by Aksak Maboul's Marc Hollander. The album was originally released on cassette by SFV Records in 2016. It features nostalgic lo-fi electronic music woven with analog synthesizers such as Arp Odyssey, Yamaha CS-01, Korg DW-8000, Hohner Pianet T, Roland TR 606, and Roland SH 101, as well as a bamboo alto saxophone, clarinet, electric guitar, and electric bass. With a whammy sound that exudes a strong Waparearic (Japanese Balearic) taste, this album possesses a mysterious charm that deepens with every listen. Highly recommended.
