A 1981 release by Sir Warrior and His Oriental Brothers Band, led by one of the most important figures in Eastern Nigerian Igbo highlife since the 1970s, Dr. Sir Warrior a.k.a. Christogonus Ezebuiro Obinna. Recorded during the period when the group was going through splits and reconfigurations, this is from the phase where he moved into a lineup that placed his own name, Dr. Sir Warrior, firmly at the front. Both sides feature extended tracks running over 18 minutes, making this a superb showcase of the group’s deep, slow-building groove. Delicate percussion beats characteristic of Igbo highlife, repeating rhythm guitar figures, and conversational vocal lines with chorus responses gradually raise the temperature into a highly danceable flow. The whistle introduced in the breaks is especially striking. Recommended.
