A double album released in 1981 as the first installment of the New Age Electronics series by Japanese percussionist Tsutomu Yamashita. Rising to prominence from the late 1960s in the fields of classical and contemporary music—garnering attention for his performances of works by Tōru Takemitsu—Yamashita later became widely known for his rock-oriented live activities as well as collaborations with Steve Winwood, Klaus Schulze, Michael Shrieve, and others. Created with extensive use of synthesizers alongside Sen Izumi, the album unfolds a grand, conceptual work of deep meditative music that spans its entirety, portraying the world of Buddhist philosophy through rumbling, earth-shaking electronic sounds and features such as Buddhist monks’ chanting. A true masterpiece of epic scope.
