This is an album released on Blue Note in 1959 by The Three Sounds, a trio consisting of Gene Harris (p), Andrew Simpkins (b), and Bill Dowdy (ds). They started their career in Benton Harbor in 1959 as Four Sounds, was discovered by Lou Donaldson after moving to New York, and worked together with Nat Adderley. The trio's performance is good to the ear from start to finish, with a light R&B/blues flavor typical of Three Sounds, from standard numbers to original compositions, including A1, a cover of a Latin classic, and A2, a bluesy cover of a popular number composed by Matt Dennis. This is the Japanese reissue released in 1990 on Toshiba EMI's <Blue Note LP Last Reissue>.
