The Wild Tchoupitoulas, a group of Mardi Gras Indians formed in the 1970s by New Orleans musician George Landry, known as Big Chief Jolly, released their only album in 1976. The group was led by Arthur Neville, who played with The Meters, and backed by the Neville Brothers. This is a great album of Bayou Funk, a style of music that draws on a wide range of musical styles from black culture, including blues, R&B, soul, jazz, funk and reggae. The Meters' classic A4 'Hey Pocky A-Way' was covered by Makoto Kubota and the Sunset Orchestra.
