Toru Takemitsu “Film Music by Toru Takemitsu 3”

This is the third installment of "Toru Takemitsu Film Music by Original Soundtrack," a series that showcases the great Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu's work on 48 film soundtracks. Takemitsu, known for his wide-ranging experimental compositions that go beyond the confines of contemporary music, worked on films, popular songs, and more. In this release, he presents music for four films directed by Nagisa Oshima. While the long-scale orchestration in "The Phantom of Love" (A1) is remarkable, the real highlights are the three tracks on the B-side: "Tokyo Senso Sengo Hiwa" "Natsu no Imoto”. These pieces bring out Takemitsu's unique blend of jazz, rock, pop, and mood music with the introduction of psychedelic guitars, showcasing his distinctive style in film music. This is a valuable recording where you can glimpse Takemitsu's creativity within the context of film music. Among the entire ten-part series, this one is particularly recommended.
