This superb 1986 album by Toshifumi Hinata was featured in both editions of the guidebook Obscure Sound. Alongside nearly 30 original album releases, Hinata also composed music across a wide range of fields including commercials, television dramas, and documentaries, while his songwriting and arranging work for other Japanese artists is simply too extensive to list. From the mellow A2, driven by a simple rhythm of rounded, warm kick and percussion with minimally repeating acoustic piano, to B2, where layers of blissful synthesizer textures melt gently into the tender tones of acoustic piano, the album unfolds as a new age ambient masterpiece of boundless beauty and rich lyricism. Absolutely stunning.
