A truly obscure one just in. Released in 1970 on Indian Records Inc. of Oklahoma, a U.S. label dedicated to Native American traditional music, this remarkable LP documents 16 ceremonial and folk pieces of the Northern Arapaho people, indigenous to the North Arapaho Peak—the highest summit of the Indian Peaks in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. The recordings exemplify the distinctive Northern Plains style, characterized by descending melodic contours from a high initial pitch. Propelled by powerful drum rhythms and near-incantatory vocal calls, the performances evoke an elemental, deeply primal sense of movement and ritual energy.

Deadstock, unplayed copy opened here only to verify condition. The A-side shows a slight storage warp from prolonged shrink tension and faint paper scuffs from the original inner sleeve—both cosmetic and with no effect on playback.
