This album was released in 1989 as part of the Nonesuch Exploloer Series, the famous series by Nonesuch in the U.S., which has been releasing numerous local recordings of folk music for a long time. It features gamelan and kecak music recorded in Bali, Indonesia. Recorded in 1987 by David Lwiston, who has made numerous recordings for the series, the sound quality is excellent, and although it is believed to be a reproduction, the sound is so realistic that it is hard to believe that it is a 2-channel recording. This is ethnic music with a music concrate concept. Highly recommended.
