This is a compilation album of Japanese jazz artists released by Warner Pioneer in 1973. The record features quadraphonic (4-channel playback) specifications, which was the most advanced technology at the time, and features many of Japan's top jazz musicians, including Norio Maeda, George Kawaguchi, Takeshi Inomata, Motohiko Hino, and Kiyoshi Sugimoto. The album contains nine jazz classical numbers and film music performed in different compositions. Of these, Norio Maeda arranged seven tracks and Mitsuhiko Sato arranged two. From drum battles to bop, bossa jazz, soul jazz, and more, you can enjoy wonderful performances by Japanese jazz musicians throughout the album, but I definitely recommend B1 by the New Jazz Sextet, which covers "St. Louis Blues" in a cool, restrained mode of jazz. The electric piano is the coolest part.
