Japanese composer Yoshio Yamura, who passed away in 1985 at the young age of 45. This box set is including nine works between 1957 and 1983. Aki Takahashi, Sumire Yoshihara, Atsuko Shinozaki, Shozo Nakagawa, and Hiroshi Koizumi participated as performers. This is a wonderful way to experience all at once the confrontational style between madness and silence of Yamura, who is known as a super-expressionist composer, including "Higanbana no Genjaku" and "Elixir" under the influence of Italian avant-garde composer Sylvano Bussotti. The flute solo "Maniera," which uses a lot of shakuhachi-like vibrato, "Constellation," with its high frequency metallic sounds, the percussion solo "Dolcissima Mia Vita," and "Breathing Field," performed by Sound Space Ark, are especially recommended.
