An album released in 1966 by Yusef Lateef, who has left many ethnic works since the 1970s. Quartet with Herman Wright (b), Roy Brooks, Jr. (ds), and Hugh Lawson (p). A1/B3 with pleasant tenor saxophone and piano playing melodies with lustrous tones backed by a Latin feeling rhythm section, A3 with nostalgic soft-toned flute, etc., all very good performances from swingin' bebop to Latin jazz/soul jazz, modal, etc. The title track, B1, is a deep spiritual tune that evokes the Eastern philosophy to which he would later devote himself, and B4 also features a scale with an Eastern essence. This is a masterpiece. This is the original US pressing, cut by Rudy Van Gelder, and it sounds great.
