After participating in Brian Eno's 1983 release, "Apollo," Roger Eno, his younger brother, began his own full-fledged career. In 1985, he released an album produced in collaboration with the Canadian artist Daniel Lanois, who also contributed to "Apollo." This album is characterized by its gentle ambient compositions centered around piano and synthesizers, and it clearly reflects a significant influence from Erik Satie. According to the late Japanese environmental musician Hiroshi Yoshimura, it shares the same "breath" as Erik Satie's "Gymnopédie" and is noted for its use of a recurring chord progression with 4 to 6 harmonies centered around the piano's timbre. Indeed, the melodies, repeated multiple times, progress slowly like ripples on the water's surface. It creates a soft sonic world that seamlessly blends into nature, cities, and various landscapes. The Japanese pressing of this album comes with liner notes featuring a highly intriguing commentary by Hiroshi Yoshimura.
