The American group Shadow Fax, originally a progressive jazz-rock band, moved to William Ackerman's New Age label Windham Hill and released their first album in 1982. This album showcases a symphonic New Age jazz-rock style with the contrast between the transparent tones of the wind synthesizer, known as the Lyricon, and the delicate sound of acoustic guitar. If you enjoy ECM guitar works by artists like Ralph Towner, this is definitely worth checking out. Windham Hill may be underrated in today's New Age scene, but they have consistently delivered outstanding sound production and audio quality for over 15 years.
