This is the first solo album by Annette Peacock, a groundbreaking musician from Brooklyn, New York, released in 1972. Since her debut in the early ’70s, Peacock has created numerous highly original works. The album features members of the Bley-Peacock Synthesizer Show—such as Paul Bley, Barry Altschul, Glen Moore, Laurence Cook, Stu Wood, and Michael Garson—as well as a host of other musicians including Airto Moreira and Dom Um Romao. While making liberal use of the trippy sounds of the Moog synthesizer—an instrument she was pioneering alongside Bley at the time—Peacock delivers a dazzling piece of avant-rock that goes far beyond jazz, incorporating elements of R&B and blues. Her cynical and ironic sensibility shines throughout the album, resulting in a masterwork that is brilliant no matter where the needle drops.
