Formed around Peter Michael Hamel and bringing together soloists from Germany, the United States, Argentina, Ireland and beyond, Between was a German group whose debut album was originally released in 1970. The ensemble features Black percussionist Cotterell Black, who would later become a member of the German progressive percussion-rock group Niagara. A truly remarkable work, it opens up a dreamlike world where percussion, bathed in warm enveloping reverb, gently merges with the tones of oboe and voice. Blending elements of jazz, contemporary music and various ethnic traditions with exquisite balance, the group presents a highly original and visionary form of psychedelic avant-folk / ethnic music unlike anything else. This is the Japanese edition released in 1972 with a different title and artwork.
