This is a 1982 album by Elliott Sharp, a genius of experimental music active in New York City. It features notable musicians such as Philip Wilson, a founding member of the Art Ensemble of Chicago, as well as Bill Laswell, Art Baron, Olu Dara, Diana Meckeley, M.E. Miller, and Charles K. Noyes. The album kicks off with a punk-infused ska track, followed by A2, where edgy guitar and horns intertwine with a swaying funk rhythm. Track B3 features a driving four-beat rhythm reminiscent of techno, with metallic guitar and a trombone that produces a thick, gritty tone in a minimal, fast-paced sequence. B4 introduces an Afro-inspired beat, and the entire album showcases a fierce blend of Sharp’s signature abstract sound with free music, post-punk, and new wave elements. An intense release, this album captures a raw fusion of styles and energy.
