This is a 1973 album released by the German contemporary music ensemble Ensemble Musica Negativa, featuring Harald Weiss, who presents avant-garde percussion music from ECM. As the title suggests, it focuses on the music of composer John Cage on the eve of revolution, which later created experimental music such as randomness and music of silence. The album features six compositions from Cage's early works from 1939 to 1965. Track A1 is a collage music piece using existing recordings, radio, buzzers, and other sounds. A1's "Concert for Piano and Orchestra" is performed simultaneously with "Solo for Voice I/II." Track A3 is an electronic music piece predating the invention of the tape recorder, featuring experimental music with percussion and piano alongside test records for frequency measurement. Track B2 is a collage music piece that sequentially plays tapes of different lengths using multiple tape recorders. All of these techniques, resembling Christian Markely's collages or the avant-garde DJ's collage play today, are incredibly innovative considering that A1 was composed in 1942, A2 in 1939, and B3 in 1965. The analog version is available only in the Japanese edition.
