The Huntingdon Trio, consisting of three musicians from Philadelphia who started their careers in classical music—Danie Gold (flute), Rheta Smith (oboe, piano), and Lloyd Smith (cello)—released an album in 1983. This album features works by American composer Larry Nelson and British composer Robert Morris. It includes five tracks: A1, which creates a fantastical soundscape by layering flute performances through tape operation; A2, a cello and piano duet inspired by the third of the nine "rasas" found in Hindu theory; A3, based on the poetry of Robert Herrick and scored specifically for this group; B1, a commissioned piece for the same group; and B2, which introduces techniques such as guitar and harp playing and pizzicato harmonics. It offers a post-ambient sensibility for enjoyment. This is a deadstock unused item that has been opened for inspection of its condition.
A1: Larry Nelson “FLute Thing”
B2: Larry Nelson “Nocturne”
