This album, released in 1986, features flutist Ryu Noguchi, known for his performances of Toru Takemitsu’s works such as Miniatur – Art, as well as his involvement in “Chamber Music ’70” with Hiroshi Wakasugi and Saburo Ueki. The album includes contributions from Yuji Takahashi (piano), Yoko Kojima (oboe), Yoshihide Kiryu (fagot), Nao Sakiya (flute), Michie Sakiya (flute), Fumiko Anan (flute), Keiko Hyuga (flute), Yuko Sahashi (piano), and Michio Kobayashi (piano). Track A3, Pegasos, composed by Ryohei Hirose, was commissioned by Noguchi and written in 1983. The piece features a solo flute accompanied by an ensemble of four flutists, unfolding in a slow-fast-slow structure. Track B2, Digital Bird, composed by Takashi Yoshimatsu—a leading figure in Japanese postmodern music—is a lengthy suite of over 18 minutes consisting of five movements. The piece is notable for its rhythmic and lively melodic layers, which are truly outstanding.
