Sakis Papadimitriou, an improviser from Thessaloniki, Greece, who has been pursuing the possibilities of improvisation on the acoustic piano since his debut in the 1970s, left his masterpiece solo album for the prestigious UK label Leo Records in 1983. The album is a free improvisation using a modified acoustic piano, and consists of six parts on the A and B sides. A2 overflows with lyrical melodies that stir the emotions, A3 spins out rhythmic sounds like percussion instruments, and other wonderful performances that make you want to surrender yourself to the changes in sound that stimulate your imagination, colored by a unique minimalism. There is no longer any point in classifying this as jazz. The sharp sound of A1, with its sawtooth sound of piano strings being scraped by a bow, has an ethnic flavor that could only come from Greece.

A1: Play : 1
A2: Play : 2
