This is a compilation album released in 1968 featuring experimental electronic music composed by contemporary composers during the 1950s and 1960s. It brings together on a single disc the works by Mauricio Kagel, Herbert Eimert, Pierre Henry, György Ligeti, André Boucourechliev, and Henri Pousseur, originally included on Disc 2 of Electronic Music / Musique Concrète – A Panorama of Experimental Music, Vol. 1, a double LP released by Mercury in 1964. Like the Prospective 21e Siècle series curated by François Bayle and Pierre Henry for Philips, this album offers a valuable glimpse into the early world of electronic music.
