Gary Criss, who made his solo debut in 1961 and was the singer of The Glass Bottle in the early 70's, released this album on Salsoul in 1978. It was a disco album based on the theme of Brazil and Latin America, and producer Billy Terrell and arranger John Davis wiped away Criss's pop image of the previous albums, creating a thick philly sound mixed with a light and breezy atmosphere. The album is a masterpiece of emotional disco. The album includes the floor hit title track A1 and a disco cover of Jobin, Morais and Gilbert's bossa classic "The Girl from Ipanema".
