A mysterious folk song record released by a company called Orion. It is called "Japanese Minyo Special Selections," and contains 16 standard minyo songs all over Japan, from Hokkaido in the north to Kyushu in the south, including "Aizu Bandaisan," "Soran-bushi," "Kiso-bushi," and "Sado Okesa. The songs are sung by Matsuko Ikeda, a folk singer who has recorded many Minyo songs, and the musical accompaniment is provided by the Three Sisters Company. On the back of the sleeve, there are liner notes by Hajime Fujii, a jazz critic for Swing Journal magazine and other publications. One of the interesting things about minyo is its unique verses and rhythms that show the characteristics of each region.
