Dilip Kumar Roy, a musicologist, novelist, poet and essayist, was awarded a Fellowship in 1965, the highest honour for lifetime achievement. This album was released in 1973. The twelve songs on this album, sung in Hindi and Sanskrit, are ritualistic Indian music, sung in a lustrous and beautiful voice with a distinctive vibrato, which is traditional but infused with a (then) modern sensibility.
