Album released in 1971 by Fanta Damba, a Malian singer of griot heritage, a West African cultural tradition. This is the sixth release in the <Premire Anthologie De La Musiue Malienne (First Anthology of the Music of Mali)> series by the venerable German label Barenreiter-Musicaphon. According to the booklet inside the spread, Damba learned almost all of the traditional old songs from her mother, and they are sung about kings and saints. This volume also includes songs dedicated to warriors such as Omar al-Haj, Falike Diarra, and Mamadou Lamine, as well as songs composed by Damba herself, all of which are accompanied by Kora's simple but pleasant performance and her unique and deeply moving vocals.
