Songs of Yaeyama Islands
Seven Seas/King Records (Japan) 1982
K20C-5110 (LP) w/obi, insert.
sleeve : EX-(light color-faded.)
media : EX+/EX+(some slightly noise.)
This is an album of Yaeyama folk songs released in 1982 from the series "Folk Music Library" planned by King Records in the early 80's. It contains a total of 18 folk songs from the Yaeyama region centering on Ishigaki Island, Okinawa, Miyako, and Amami in Kagoshima, all of which share a common cultural root. The songs are from elatively familiar, such as "Asatoya-bushi," which is the original song of "Asatoya Yunta," and the entire collection offers a variety of folk songs that have something in common but also have a unique flavor of each of the islands. There are many good pieces in this series, but this is one of the most interesting of them all. Highly recommended.
A2: 稲が種子あよー
B1: 古見の浦節
