This album was released in 1976 as the fifth in the 'Music in the World of Islam' series on Tangent Records in the UK. Six albums were released in the same year, the first of which, The Human Voice, was also excellent, but this album focuses on the theme of reed instruments and bagpipes and takes the listener on a journey from Morocco in North Africa to Turkey, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India in the Middle East, and to Malaysia and Indonesia in South-East Asia. In particular, the bagpipe sounds and melodies sound very interesting. All in all this series is good. Recommended.
