Supervised by Charlotte Heth—of Cherokee Nation descent and Associate Professor of Music as well as Director of the American Indian Studies Center at UCLA—this 1976 album documents traditional Native American music. Featuring high-quality recordings of tribal songs from various regions across North America, it includes performances such as the Alligator Dance of the Seneca people, who once lived near Rochester in northwestern New York State, and the Brush Dance of the Yurok tribe, who inhabit northwestern California near the mouth of the Klamath River. A truly valuable ethnomusicological work that offers a rare opportunity to experience the musical heritage of Native American communities. Highly recommended.

A2: Alligator Dance - Seneca
B1: Woman’s Bush Dance - Yurok
