This is the 1977 album by pianist Aki Takahashi, a prominent figure in contemporary music in Japan, known for being the brother of the renowned contemporary composer Yuji Takahashi. Aki Takahashi herself has gained international acclaim for her performances of John Cage and Toru Takemitsu compositions, establishing a broad presence as a contemporary musician. The album was released by Toshiba Records as part of the Pro-Use Series, employing direct cutting. The recording features performances of notable compositions, including Toru Takemitsu's "Piano Distance," Tomasz Sikorski's "Sonant for Piano" from Poland, Kaisetsu So's "Music for Piano 1," and Johannes Fritsch's "Piano Piece 1." Takemitsu's A1, characterized by harmonics and prepared piano techniques, is outstanding, and the performances of Kaisetsu's B1 and Fritsch's B2 showcase excellence as well.
