Shakuhachi player Hozan Yamamoto, who left behind great achievements not only in the classical arts but also in contemporary activities, released this album under the name Quatre Oiseaux in 1980. The four seasons of Japan are expressed surrealistically through improvisation by a quartet of musicians that transcends genres, including lead player Ryo Noda, guitarist Sadanori Nakamure, and bassist Yasuo Arakawa. From the first part of the piece, the illusion of a little bird in spring, where flutes from Bolivia, India, Brazil and other countries, not to mention the shakuhachi, chirp like birds, you are instantly immersed in the world. The recording is also superb, allowing you to feel the different reverberations of each instrument. Without a doubt, this is a masterpiece.
