This album was introduced in a column of the guidebook OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION.

Chiaki Naomi, one of Japan's most iconic female singers, captivated the nation in the early 1970s with her Dramatic Kayōhits such as Kassai, Gekijō, and Yakan Hikō. Even after that era, she continued to absorb various musical styles and left behind numerous outstanding vocal performances, but she went on hiatus in 1992. Released in 1977, this album features arrangements by Kan Ogasawara, with one track arranged by Chito Kawauchi. Side A consists of six original songs written by Miyuki Nakajima specifically for Chiaki, including track A6, where Nakajima’s exceptional songwriting shines as Chiaki delivers a bluesy, impassioned performance. Side B features three cover songs each from Yōsui Inoue and Akira Inaba. Notable highlights include track B1, a slow funk-infused arrangement of Inoue’s classic Kōri no Sekai, and Sunday Morning, a hidden rock-groove gem by Inaba. While the arrangement remains faithful to the original, Chiaki’s rendition transforms the song with an entirely different emotional depth. A highly recommended masterpiece.

A6: うかれ屋
