A compilation album released in 1986 featuring tracks by some of the most promising artists from Japan’s 1980s new wave scene: Killing Time led by Fumi Itakura, Young Onion, a new project by Yasuharu Konishi of Pizzicato Five, Isao Shigeto’s Date of Birth, Ba Na Na featuring members of EP-4, and Koji Wakui’s Screen. Each artist contributes one track per side. A5 by Killing Time is a cutting-edge new wave track that clearly showcases the group’s avant-garde sensibilities. B1, featuring lyrics and vocals by Hiromi Ohta, is another standout. And needless to say, A1/B2 by Ba Na Na—featuring contributions from Itakura and RA—comes highly recommended.
