Released in 1972 under the supervision of composer Minoru Miki, who is also the organizer of the Nippon Music Group, this 2-CD album introduces Japanese musical instruments. Focusing on the koto, shakuhachi, shamisen, and taiko, the content explains the types and characteristics of each instrument with narration. It is supervised and composed by Keiko Nosaka (koto), Kohachiro Miyata (shakuhachi), Hirokazu Sugiura (shamisen), Yoshitatsu Shimizu and Shoetsu Kawasaki (taiko), and features performances by members of the Nippon Music Group. The accompanying booklet contains detailed information on each instrument. It is not only of educational value, but also has many other uses.
