This is an album released in 1965 by American saxophonist Albert Ayler, who made a name for himself as a leading figure in the avant-garde jazz scene of 1960s New York. It features a live recording from 1964 in Copenhagen, Denmark, performed by a quartet consisting of Don Cherry (trumpet), Gary Peacock (bass), and Sonny Murray (drums). The album includes variations of Ayler's signature piece “Ghosts,” and showcases a style that epitomizes his 1960s transition from New Orleans jazz roots to free jazz. Both Don Cherry and Gary Peacock demonstrate excellent chemistry with Ayler throughout the performance.
