A very obscure one has arrived. This is the 1986 second album by East Buffalo Media Association, a group from New York, USA, that produced only two self-released albums in the 1980s. The members are Michael Basinski (vocals), Don Metz (guitar), James Perone (sax, clarinet), James Kasprowicz (trombone), Ed Folger (drums), and John Toth (marimba). Self-produced with funding from the Arts Council in Buffalo and Erie County through a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts, the album offers a fascinating blend of free jazz and avant-garde. The B-side features an extended track, B1, highlighting Basinski's poetry reading, which is particularly interesting. Also noteworthy is A3, a contemporary jazz piece with a distinctive floating sensation, reminiscent of a boat gently bobbing on the water, much like the album's cover art.
A3: Prelude to Sea
B1: Sea
