An album released in 1980 by Friedrich Gulda, a renowned jazz pianist and composer from Vienna, Austria, who had been at the forefront of the scene since the early 1950s. While rooted in both standard and modern jazz, he also left behind legendary cosmic jazz masterpieces such as Fata Morgana (1971) and Nachricht Vom Lande (1977), known for their spacey and chaotic sound. This album is the second installment of live recordings from a three-day concert held at the Grosser Musikvereinssaal in Vienna. Gulda performs on both acoustic piano and clavichord, presenting not only his own compositions but also works by Mozart and Debussy—though his interpretations transcend conventional boundaries, transforming them into an emotional and cosmic experience unique to his artistry. Track C1, intriguingly, even has a resemblance to Brazilian music. Highly recommended.
